How to Study the Bible
బైబిలును ఎలా అధ్యయనం చేయాలి?
How to Study the Bible is a 12-week online course for everyday believers, taught by Dr. Joel Madasu in English and Telugu. You do not need Bible school. You need a Bible, a notebook, and a willingness to listen to God.
Three questions every believer asks
Before you sign up, here are the honest answers to the three questions that matter most.
What does it mean to study the Bible?
It means reading slowly enough to hear what God said, and then doing what He said. That is different from reading a verse for a quick comfort and moving on. When we study, we look closely at what is on the page. We learn what it meant to the people who first received it. Then we let it change how we live.
Ezra gives us the pattern.
"Ezra had determined in his heart to study the law of the Lord, obey it, and teach its statutes and ordinances in Israel." (Ezra 7:10, CSB)
Study it. Obey it. Teach it. Notice the order. Studying is not collecting facts about God. It is how a believer listens to Him.
Why should we study the Bible?
Because God speaks through it. Paul told Timothy:
"All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, and for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work." (2 Tim. 3:16-17, CSB)
That gives us three reasons. First, we want to know God Himself, not only things about Him. Second, we need light for the road: "Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light on my path" (Ps. 119:105, CSB). Third, we are told to act on what we read: "But be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves" (Jas. 1:22, CSB).
A believer who never learns to study ends up leaning on someone else's opinion. That is how one verse gets pulled out of its place and made to say what the writer never said.
How will this help me?
By the end of the twelve weeks you will be able to open any passage and know what to do with it.
- You will find your way. You will know how the Bible is arranged and how to choose a translation, a dictionary, and other tools (Week 2).
- You will see what is really there. You will learn to look before you explain, and to read a verse inside its paragraph and its world (Weeks 3 to 5).
- You will say what it meant, and what it teaches now. You will write the message of a passage in one sentence, then check it against the rest of Scripture (Weeks 6 to 8).
- You will read every kind of book. Law, story, prophecy, gospel, and letter each need a different approach (Weeks 9 to 11).
- You will keep going. You finish with a five-minute teaching you can give to another believer and a plan to keep reading for six months (Week 12).
One simple method: Look. Learn. Live.
Every lesson follows the same four questions, in the same order. Tap each word to see what it asks.
Who this course is for
- The believer in the pew. You love the Lord and you want to read His Word with confidence, but nobody ever showed you how.
- The Sunday school teacher and small group leader. You teach others and you want a method you can hand on.
- The new believer. You need a clear place to start, with steps small enough to finish.
- The one who has read for years and still feels lost. You will learn why some passages confuse you and what to do about it.
